Computer freezes and/ or lockups

We have all had a computer freeze or lockup
To help ease this situation do a scan for spyware, and adware
also increase your virtual memory which maximizes the usage of your ram memory.
A way to increase to virtual memory is listed below

FOR XP

Click the start button and then click on control panel
click on performance and maintenence then click on system
on the advanced tab under performance click settingson the advanced tab under virtual memory
click change.
under the drive volume click the drive that your paging file resides on usually C
under the paging file size check the custom size box you can enter the size you want
make the size usually is 1.5 times the size of your ram memory.
make the minimum and maximum values the same this keeps the cpu from changing the values.
click the set button and restart your computer.

To resolve this problem, force a contact list update to make sure that your information is synchronized. To this, follow these steps: Locate one of the following folders, depending on your operating system: For Lync 2013: Windows 7 and Windows 8: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Lync\sip_ For Lync 2010: Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Communicator\sip_ Windows XP: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data \Microsoft\Communicator\sip_ Delete the following files: Galcontacts.db galcontacts.db.idx CoreContact.cache ABS_ .cache Mfugroup.cache PersonalLISDB.cache PresencePhoto.cache Restart Lync, and then wait for 30 minutes for resynchronization to finish.
