Windows 7 differences

If you are an experienced windows user, you might notice that several programs available in previous Versions of windows are missing in windows 7. Computer does not hibernate in XP

Click start, then control panel Double click power options. Click on the hibernate tab. Click the Enable Hibernation button. Click the Power Schemes tab. Use the drop down menu under system hibernation to determine how much time should pass before hibernation occurs.

adding a link to a contact in outlook 2003

Adding a link to a contact in outlook 2003 is actually pretty simple. Just make sure you have something to link a contact to Ex. a task, meeting. Open up outlook 2003 When completely open, open up your contact list Click on a contact and open up that contacts info form Click on action in the contact form taskbar Click on link then click on items Click on the item you want. Highlight the item then click applies then ok Then back in the contact form Click on activities to see if the item is now linked to the contact. Remember have a Happy and safe Thanksgiving

Computer freezes and/ or lockups

We have all had a computer freeze or lockup To help ease this situation do a scan for spyware, and adware also increase your virtual memory which maximizes the usage of your ram memory. A way to increase to virtual memory is listed below FOR XP Click the start button and then click on control panel click on performance and maintenence then click on system on the advanced tab under performance click settingson the advanced tab under virtual memory click change. under the drive volume click the drive that your paging file resides on usually C under the paging file size check the custom size box you can enter the size you want make the size usually is 1.5 times the size of your ram memory. make the minimum and maximum values the same this keeps the cpu from changing the values. click the set button and restart your computer. Gmail vacation responder

To turn on the GMail vacation responder, click on settings, then scroll down to vacation responder set the first day vacation starts change the date by double clicking on the date listed in first date do the same for the last day put a short description in the subject line and add a brief message in the message body then click the vacation responder on button save the changes this will send a reply to all mail sent by your contact list. Blocking sites

Need to block certain sites from viewing click on start, click on control panel, click Internet options, click on the security tab select the restricted sites zone and then click on the sites button add the web site you want to block to the list click OK then try to access that site to see if done properly may have to restart Internet explorer to see the changes Remember Make it a great day

history box in internet options greyed out

If the history box in internet options is greyed out log in as the administrator click on start than click on run , type in regedit when the registry opens open the plus sign for hkey_current_users, then open up software, then open policies, then open up microsoft, then open up internet explorers there should be a key for history set the default key to zero save changes then close out internet explorer and reopen internet explorer, click on tools, then internet options the history button should now function properly remember have a great day

deleting events from google calendar

To delete an event from google calendar open google calendar and double click on the event you want to delete and following the boxes that appear the event will be deleted

Organizing Gmail contacts

To manage Gmail contacts try this method Google Help › Gmail Help › Your Contacts › Managing Contacts › Managing contact groups Managing contact groups To edit the contact group name: Click Contacts on the side of any page. Select the group you'd like to edit. Click Edit at the top of the page. Make your desired changes. Click Save at the top of the page. To add contacts to a contact group: Select the contacts in the Contacts list. Open the Groups drop-down menu. Under Add to... , select the group you'd like to add the contact to, or select New group to create a new group. To remove contacts from a contact group: Select the contact in the Contacts list. Open the Groups drop-down menu. Under Remove from... , select the group you'd like to remove the contact from. To delete a contact group: Click Contacts on the left side of any page. Select the contact group from the groups list. Click Delete Group

Start Registry Editor by typing regedit in the run box Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft On the Edit menu, point to New, click Key, and then type Messenger for the name of the new registry key. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Messenger On the On the Edit menu, point to New, click Key, and then type Client for the name of the new registry key. Locate and click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Messenger\Client On the Edit menu, point to New, click DWORD Value, and then type PreventRun for the name of the new DWORD value. Right-click the PreventRun value that you created, click Modify, type 1 in the Value data box, and then click OK. Quit Windows Messenger.
